Project Infinity Institute

Project Infinity is a 17-year collaborative research initiative of Inspired Practices in Early Education. Its purpose is to build solidarity and authentic working relationships between schools of young children so that collective understanding of children’s and adults’ learning, and ways of offering rich contexts for learning and living can be continually defined, enriched, and deepened. Our work has grown to offer the following professional development opportunities for 2017-2018.

Project Infinity Institute is an internal professional development project initiative open to community educators. The two-day institute is designed to welcome new teachers within the project and to begin a permanent course of professional dialogue. Each institute is crafted around a focus to orient our discussions and experiences. Past themes included “The First 30 Days,” and “Valuing Children and Adults in the Educational Relationship.” This year’s focus will center on “The Image of the Child.” We borrow our orienting question from Loris Malaguzzi who said, “A declaration [about the image of the child] is not only a necessary act of clarity and correctness, it is the necessary premise for any pedagogical theory, and any pedagogical project. So then, what is the image of the child?” (p. 374). The two-day institute will include discussions, working presentations, and active experiences offered by educators currently working inside schools of the project.
